CODEL TunnelTech Model 601 Luminance monitors were recently installed in tunnels in downtown Philadelphia.   

The 601 units monitor light of a tunnel entrance for the purpose of adjusting the level of light intensity inside the tunnel to match the light intensity outside the tunnel.  With these monitors, drivers do not have to adjust their eyes too quickly or become affected by the “black hole” effect where they decelerate rapidly and become a hazard to other road users.  

The 601 units were installed at each opening of two tunnels along I-95 in central Philadelphia.  Monitoring Solutions is proud to be involved in helping keep our roads and tunnels a safer place for drivers.
